Is Staff Augmentation for my business?

If your business needs to rapidly build seamless, flexible, diverse, and loyal teams to help take your business to the next level, all while offering high-quality career growth paths both for your company and IT professionals alike, then TheDevBlock’s staff augmentation model is for you!

What are the differences between staff augmentation vs in-house resources?

1 Cost Reduction

When you hire full-time in-house employees, you are responsible for the onboarding, training, procurement, and all other related activities and overhead costs. With staff augmentation, we take care of that.

2 Seamless Integration

When you choose our staff augmentation model, the hiring process is run by us. This implies less time and effort from your side, and we take care of everything.

3 Accountability

On top of your supervision, a Technical Account Manager will be appointed by us free of charge to ensure compliance and alignment from our talent and complement your supervision tasks.

Does TheDevBlock work with freelancers?

No. TheDevBlock does not work with freelancers, we have a pool of professional IT consultants that work as independent contributors for us. This way, we ensure that the staff that you are hiring is not only dedicated full time to your project and with a verified skillset, but also their time and workplace is well organized and managed, they have a good compensation package, and finally, they have career development growth opportunities within our organization.

How much does it cost to register on TheDevBlock’s platform?

Nothing. Registration is free of charge! Give it a try!

What are the differences between TheDevBlock and other traditional alternatives of IT outsourcing?

When you outsource, you are outsourcing the full project or aspects of the project to an external company; while our staff augmentation model adds virtual resources to your current team to help manage the workload.

The main difference is who is responsible for project management and who is held accountable for results. In IT project outsourcing, the outsourcing company will manage the project and be accountable for the results. In contrast, staff augmentation requires in-house project management and accountability.

Which is better for you depends on your current team’s capacity and your goals. In general, for companies that have a strong internal IT team and who have reliable, dependable management, staff augmentation is the best option.

With TheDevBlock Team as a Service solution, you can start working quicker than with a traditional service. On average you can start within two weeks of the original request, this is four (4) times faster than the average time of the competition.

Interviews & Selection Process

What is our vetting process like?

Our selection process consists of a complete set of tests and interviews covering all important aspects, from language skills assessments to soft and hard skills evaluations. We thoroughly evaluate our candidates’ track records, references, and assessment results to ensure maximum fit.

How does the Team Building Process work?

Because one picture is worth a thousand words, in the following diagram you have all the steps of our interview and vetting process.

Where is our tech talent located?

In general, we aim to select our tech talent in the same time zone as yours. For example, for our North American clients our talent is usually located in South America.

How long does it take till I have a tentative team?

Under 72 hours or three (3) business days is how long it may take till you have a short list of the potential candidates for your approval.

How long do I have to interview and decide?

Usually 72 hours or three (3) business days is the maximum time we can guarantee the availability of our candidates. Once this period is over, we cannot guarantee the candidates will be free and available and a new candidate may be presented in his or her place.

If I reject a candidate, what happens?

We will request your feedback in order to refine our search and present a new candidate within the following 72 hours.

How can I tell you what skills I'm looking for?

Simply click on our “Build a Team” button below and just follow the instructions to enter your request.

Build a Team

If a tech language or skill is not mentioned in the platform, does it mean that you do not work with it?

No, we work with all tech languages, but just to keep our UX clean, we only show a short selection of the most popular ones. When you need a tech language that is not listed, simply add it in the “Others” box.

Payment & Service Management

What are the payment conditions?

Our billing is done monthly and in US Dollars (USD).

Payments can be done through a wire transfer, bank transfer, credit card or by using the Stripe payment gateway.

Prices shown on the platform are final and do not include any additional taxes, duties, or additional commissions.

How do we calculate the hours worked?

At the end of the month, we check the monthly hourly quota by going over the recorded time-log. We will then proceed by issuing our hourly report to you for your review and approval.

How can I request overtime?

You can request Overtime Services through our assigned Technical Account Manager.

These requests must be done in writing. Overtime will be charged and billed at the hourly rates accorded.

How can I communicate with my newly acquired team?

Through the @thedevblock email addresses of each of our team members.

Customers can add other communication tools as IM solutions at will.

Remember our Technical Account Manager is part of your team and provide additional support in managing your team.

Service Changes – Replacements

Can I cancel the service?

Yes, you can cancel anytime. We just ask you to provide a written 15-day notice.

If a team member decides to leave the project or is underperforming, what happens?

When a team member leaves a project, you will be informed in advance and our Technical Account Manager will take care of you and your project, presenting alternative candidates and ensuring a smooth transition and onboarding of the new team member.

If a team member is underperforming, our Technical Account Manager will proceed by executing two important tasks:

  1. Launching a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) while keeping you always informed about the evolution of the situation.
  2. Simultaneously prepare a replacement short-list of candidates ready to start.

If the overall performance continues to go unchanged, the team member in question will be replaced.

Can I renew the service?

Yes, you can. You must give us written notice no later than 10 days before the end of the service and we’ll take it from there.

Who owns the legal rights to the work created by our tech talent?

YOU, The client.

How do we ensure that our IP is protected?

Our contract’s safeguard establishes that all work created during the term of the service by our tech talent is the client’s property.
